It’s déjà vu all over again

“Texas, the consuming state, cannot exist without Texas, the producing state; and the United States as a consuming nation cannot exist without the United States as a producing nation.
 
At the present time, the United States is a consuming nation, but is trying to survive at the expense of and through the producing efforts of less than a half dozen of our 50 states. Thus, while Texas, Louisiana and a few other producing states extend their facilities to the limit, such states as Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and the Atlantic seaboard states do everything within their power to prevent the development of the energy resources under their control”.


Former Texas Railroad Commissioner and fellow Midlander, Jim Langdon, made those remarks thirty-one years ago.  

Hopefully now, more Americans are beginning to understand that increasing American oil supplies is central to combating rising gasoline prices.
