Michael Williams on Texas Monthly Talks

Evan Smith and Michael Williams

If you’ve seen Commissioner Michael Williams speak in the past, then you’ve witnessed his ability to inspire an audience with a passion for innovative, conservative solutions to the problems facing our state and country. Big, exciting speeches are what he’s known for.

In December, I had the privilege of joining the rest of the Williams campaign staff, my camera in tow, to watch the taping of Evan Smith’s interview with Commissioner Williams for the PBS talk show Texas Monthly Talks. A departure from the tradition political event I’m accustomed to, it turned out to be a perfect setting for the Commissioner to demonstrate the depth of his ability to discuss a wide range of issues. Evan was a great interviewer and the Commissioner Williams brought his A-game.

Whether or not you’ve seen the Commissioner speak in person, I offer that this interview gives a fresh perspective on his formidable mind for public policy. And I believe that it solidifies the case that, upon the resignation of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Texas would be best served by having Michael Williams represent us in the U.S. Senate. See if you agree.

Mr. Williams came across as competent, focused along with displaying an easy-on-the-ears personality during this interview. This seldom the case with many who seek political office. No dancing around the issues, just straight talk!

Additionally, his positions on a variety of issues were exactly as are my views.

I would be pleased to support his candidacy should it become reality.

An articulate voice for pragmatic solutions to the economic and social problems at the forefront of our country/world today. Living in the Genesis of the petroleum industry, I can see no sense in instituting a such immediate and harmful legislation as Cap-and-Tax. A transition period, like Commissioner Williams speaks of, involving expanding our domestic petroleum capabilities while researching and improving technology simply makes more sense than immediately penalizing all carbon usage with fines and taxes on consumers.
