Standing Firm
November 23, 2009
Friends,
On December 16, 2008, we set out on what was certain to be a long journey together: a campaign for the United States Senate. That hasn’t changed one bit with Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s decision to delay her resignation until after the Primary in March 2010.
In fact, her statement provided greater clarity than she has previously given: that she will definitely resign following the Primary election. I take her at her word that Texans will go to the polls in 2010 to elect a new United States Senator in a Special Election.
We will continue to execute our campaign plan. I will continue to aggressively make the case that Texas, now more than ever, needs a consistent, courageous conservative to fight for us in Washington.
Americans have had enough of “do as I say, not as I do” politicians. Americans want leaders who stand firm in their commitment to fight the growth of government, the out-of-control spending and the ever-increasing taxes. They want leaders who will work to cut government spending, unleash the free markets, defend our borders and defeat Al Qaeda on their own soil.
I will continue to make the case that I am that leader Texans and Americans are searching for. I am uniquely qualified to stand up to President Obama and his administration’s liberal agenda.
With the backing of the best Republican grassroots organization in Texas, along with my broad background in the areas of energy, law and education, and being the only candidate who has won three statewide elections, I am in the best position to win this race and to lead on Day One.
The fact is, when it comes to our campaign, nothing has changed. I am running whether the election is May 2010, November of 2012 or any date in between. While others may hedge their bets, I am “all in” this race to give Texas true conservative representation in the United States Senate.
I am honored to have the support of so many hardworking, everyday Texans who want their government to reflect their values. We will continue to build a winning team – one that is built around the hopes and dreams of millions of our citizens rather than the ambitions of one individual. And with your help, one day in the near future I will place my left hand on the Bible and my right hand in the air to swear a solemn oath as your next United States Senator.
